I started this project by researching vegetarian tapas recipes. When I decided on making Gazpacho, I found a recipe. In class, I translated the recipe in Spanish using the previous week's lesson on commands to help me. After Susy checked my recipe I went home and filmed myself making the recipe. Finally, I took the raw footage and edited it on iMovie. This project was a lot harder than I anticipated. I ran into a couple problems, such as my neighbor building a shed right outside my kitchen window and the blender exploding on me while I was filming. Despite this, I had a lot of fun making this video and with the uniqueness of the project. I served the Gazpacho I made on Mother's Day at a dinner party and it was very good.
Recipe:
6 Tomate
1 Pimiento Italiano
1 Cebolla Blanca
1 Pepino
1c. de sopa vinagre
2c. de sopa aceite de oliva
sal
Primero,
Vamos a lavar seis tomates, un pimiento italiano, una cebolla blanca.
Corta el tomate y pimiento en cuatro trozos. Corta la cebolla en mucho trozos. Ponlo en el bateador.
Corta el ajo.
Pela el pepino. Corta el pepino en muchos partes. Ponlo en el bateador.
Pure las vegetales.
Pon el vinagre, el sal, y aceite de oliva en el bateador a lento.
Ponlo en el refrigerador por veinte minutos.
Adorna con cilantro.
Ahora sirve!

Who was Frida Kahlo?
Frida Kahlo was a Mexican artist who is famous for her self-portraits. She lived in the early twentieth century. Kahlo married the famous artist Diego Riveria who twenty years older than her. Throughout her life, she battled with many physical and mental struggles. She had polio as a child. She was stabbed a trolley car railing after it crashed into a bus and was unable to have kids because of the damages to her pelvis. Additionally, she had a very unhealthy marriage were her and Diego were both unfaithful to each other. Through out these struggles she used art to share her emotions. Even years after her death Frida Kahlo is one of the most famous female artists and her paintings go for millions of dollars.
Reflection:
I did my biography about Hillary Clinton the former First Lady, New York Senator, and Secretary of State. I chose Hillary Clinton because she inspires me. I would like, Hillary, to have a career in civil service and politics. Additionally, Hillary Clinton unfortunately just lost the presidential election to Donald Trump and I believe she needed some a positivity in her life. Even if she never sees my art piece. I was very proud of how my art piece turned out. I used the skills I learned in Digital Arts last years to make my art piece. For example, I tried to use a consistent color scheme. use I improved greatly from my last art piece in Spanish. If I could refine one thing I would make her flowers look more realistic. I would paint more details on them.

Calaveras Literarias are traditional during Dia de los Muertos because the Mexican culture makes death more whimsical and comical. Unlike Americans, in the Mexican culture they have a less taboo relationship with death. Mexicans still mourn their loved ones, but on Dia de los Muertos they celebrate and honor the dead. Jose Guadalupe Posada was a famous, Mexican, cartoonist and printmaker in the early 20th century. He created many famous cartoons turning high powered workers, such as politicians, doctors, and lawyers into calaveras. His idea was to depict humans are all the same when they are dead, no matter our socioeconomic situation. A lot of his work was inspired by Dia de los Muertos. He is most famous for his piece La Calavera Catrina (below).
My Calavera Literaria is discussing the death of the famous singer and entertainer Beyonce. In my poem Beyonce is performing in front of a huge audience and slips and falls on her butt. She then, cries so much her eyes fall out and she dies. I tried to make her death comical.
I am proud of the poem part of this project. I should have restarted my art piece because while it was drying a piece of paper got stuck to it. Parts of the paper and my calavera were ripped off. I tried to repair it quickly so I could turn it in on time. I should have accepted a late grade and refined my Calavera Literaria further. I did not turn in beautiful work and next time I will take time to perfect my work before I turn it in.
