 Dia de los Muertos Project
11/2/15

How has my understanding of Mexican culture grown over the course of this project?
My understanding of mexican culture has grown over the course of the project because I have learned about their most celebrated holiday and the historical significnce of it. I learned that Dia de los Muertos started as an Aztec celebration of the goddess, The Lady of the Dead, and was later influenced by the catholic religion when Spain invaded Mexico. I also learned, how Mexicans set up alters, ofrendas, for the deceased. These ofrendas would be decorated with pan de muerto, bread of the dead. They additionally, would be covered in marigolds, photographs, and objects that represented the deceased.
